Apple revealed earlier this week the second version of the operating system for its smart watch, watchOS 2, during the keynote speech at its annual developer conference for this year, WWDC 2015, in addition to announcing the ninth version of the iOS operating system and a new version of The operating system for Macs is OS x El Capitan.

watchOS 2 allows developers to build standalone applications for the Apple Watch that do not require work via the iPhone. It also provides developers with access and control over the microphone, speaker, motion sensor, and home button in the watch, which helps them develop applications with more features for users. It also supports the Apple HomeKit platform that allows Control of smart home devices.

watchOS 2 adds many features to Apple Watch users, most notably:

- The user can choose a picture as the main screen of the watch, choose a photo album in which the pictures change throughout the day, or choose a new “theme” called Time- Lapse displays various images from different places around the world during the day.

– watchOS 2 makes it possible to display information on the home screen from various apps, such as sports scores, flight reservations, and more.

– When placing the Apple Watch on its side while charging, a new mode called Nightstand will turn on, which turns the watch into an alarm, and the user can close the alarm through the side button on the watch, or set it to alert after a few minutes (snooze) through the large circular button on the clock side.

- The user can directly, through the watch, allocate more than one screen for friends, adding up to 12 friends for “quick communication” in each screen.

The user can reply to emails directly from the watch via canned responses, voice dictation, or emojis.

- An exercise can be started directly through Siri voice commands.

- Sports activities with friends via Facebook and Twitter.

- All the new features of Apple Pay will be available through the Apple Watch, such as adding store cards and getting reward points and discounts.

- Using Siri to get directions and itineraries for public transportation via Apple Maps.

- Look at different apps like Instagram through Siri.

- The ability to control smart home devices that are compatible with HomeKit, for example, the user can control the lighting and temperature of his room directly through the Apple Watch.

- Use the circular button on the side of the watch to see upcoming events, appointments, and the weather in the coming days.

watchOS 2 is now available to developers, and Apple said that it will be available as a free update for all versions of the Apple Watch this fall (in September or October).
