The Suez Canal witnesses the transit of 145 ships belonging to the shipping line «EVER GREEN» since the beginning of 2021

Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, stressed the strength of the cooperation relations between the authority and the global shipping line, EVER GREEN, which is one of its most important customers.

He said that the canal has witnessed the crossing of 145 ships belonging to the shipping line since the beginning of this year, with a total net tonnage of 22 million and 407 thousand tons.

Rabea added that last year witnessed the crossing of about 210 ships belonging to the shipping line of the Suez Canal, with a total net tonnage of 31 million and 774 thousand tons.

The canal witnessed today the passage of the giant container ship “EVER ACE”, the largest container ship in the world, on its first cruise, within the southern convoy, in the new navigational channel of the canal during its journey from China to the Netherlands.

Rabee mentioned that the passage of the giant ship “EVER ACE” to the Suez Canal is the culmination of the cooperation relations between the Suez Canal Authority and the shipping line.

The giant ship “EVER ACE” is the first ship to be operated in a series of 12 A-class ships to be built for the global shipping line, as Samsung Heavy Industries is building 6 ships, while 6 other ships are being built in China. .

Rabee stressed that the transit of the world's largest container ships through the Suez Canal on its first sea voyage reflects the maritime community's confidence in the canal's ability to receive and accommodate current and future generations of giant container ships, as the canal can receive 100% of the global fleet of container ships thanks to the new Suez Canal project.
