Switzerland's richest man, Ernesto Bertarelli, has acquired a stake in the British carmaker linked to James Bond.

Ernesto Bertarelli has a 3.4% voting stake in British luxury sports car maker Aston Martin Lagonda, according to a regulatory filing on Friday.

The richest man in Switzerland takes a stake in« Aston Martin » for cars associated with James Bond.</p><p>Ernesto's fortune derives from his family's $18.1 billion fortune in pharmaceuticals.</p><p>The UK manufacturer of exotic vehicles, known for producing cars driven by stars in many films, most notably those driven by the famous James Bond character, has struggled with cash flow and unsold distributor inventory.</p><p>The company said last month that it may need additional funding even after an injection of 536 million pounds ($670 million) from a group led by Canadian investor Lawrence Stroll.</p><p>The bulk of the Bertarelli family fortune came from the sale of fertility drug manufacturer Serono to Merck KGaA for $8.6 billion in 2006, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.</p><p>Most of the proceeds have been reinvested through the Geneva-based office of Waypoint, whose assets include commercial real estate in London and Switzerland, and a technology-focused investment fund, Forestay Capital.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> </div></p>
