The Ministry of Interior decided to develop a special information system for the civil status with the aim of reducing the cost of services provided to Moroccans, through a draft decree on the subject that aims to make radical amendments to the civil status system.

The draft decree states the introduction of modern technologies for media and communication in the field of managing the civil status, stating that the Ministry of the Interior has referred to the development of a national program to update the civil status of its advancement in order to keep pace with the development that the electronic administration knows in Morocco.

The draft decree presented by the Minister of the Interior, Abdel -Wafi Al -Fitt, announced that it comes to achieve the goals of the strategy set by the Ministry to qualify the civil status sector and raise its returns, stressing the importance of strengthening the capabilities of public departments and institutions, and providing immediate and accurate data that is a base for all strategic, economic and social development programs.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that this amendment would set the legal ground to work in the information system of the civil status and electronic exchange of information, while assigning the authority to conclude the agreements that concern the civil status at the national level to the Minister of Interior without prejudice to the fundamental specializations of the heads of groups as civil status officers.
