Dramatic treatment of the "Zakal" scenario...Love is more important than ideologies
Jawad fails the baccalaureate again, gets expelled on the first anniversary of his father’s death, his twin sister precedes him in studying and explains that she came out of the mother’s womb before him… To achieve himself, he pledges his share in the inheritance to continue his studies in a private secondary school, but his arrogant nature and loss of will keep him away from the goal, to find He himself is in trouble he did not expect... Al-Zakal is a spoiled boy who kicks in every direction, but in a time of crisis he cannot manage his affairs successfully...
Ezzagal in Tamazight and Moroccan dialect is an adjective for a person who shoots and does not hit his target.
This treatment was written in Agadir years ago and collaborated with brother Mohamed Moheb to turn it into a script that spans 120 scenes.
I publish this treatment in the time of stone, especially since I receive scenarios for reading, all of which are dialogues, and often the only information in each scene is (an outside day is a café). Without describing the exact place, time, or event that will take place. Let alone describing the tone, look, and gesture that will accompany the event and dialogue in the scenario. These narrative necessities do not exist in most scenarios.
Dramatic treatment:
Faces between the squares of iron nets, nine in the morning in front of the secondary school, the noise of ululating, laughter, crying and a burning sun. The results of the remedial session of the baccalaureate appeared on July 15. Neither Jawad nor his girlfriend Zahira succeeded, their faces remained glued to the iron nets of the high school door. Jawad’s phone rings, he answers and then joins In a taxi with his mother and sister Asma in the cemetery, to pray for the father on the first anniversary of his death. He died when Jawad failed for the first time. He could not bear the shock.
In the cemetery, Jawad refuses to humble himself in front of his father’s grave and scolds his mother for crying over a man who was abusing her and wishing him death, and when he died, she became a hypocrite crying over him (Jawad’s father was a taxi driver in the construction of the highway, he suffered from asthma because of the dust, he wanted his children to Unquestionable professions, and he was striving to provide them with all the circumstances, he could not bear the shock of repeating his son).
The family members return in a taxi to the house in an average neighborhood. The car stops in front of the distinguished house, which has two large floors and huge basement shops with iron doors. The house is the subject of the conflict in the film and it is what will divide the fates of the characters.
At home, and to emphasize the time of summer, the TV shows pictures of immigrants returning to Morocco loaded with gifts and old pans. The announcer talks about receiving our compatriots living abroad… Jawad notices that the cars they bring are worn out, not like his uncle’s… He changes the channel to watch the Colvazor competitions and decides what he will do with his life: He will become a hero.
He declares this while standing in front of his father's picture, a giant bald, grinning man driving a yellow bulldozer.
At home, because of the atmosphere of sadness and failure, Asmaa is silent and does not celebrate her law degree with distinction. She discusses with her mother her project to practice law, and spends the summer vacation reading law books. The mother fasts on Mondays of every week despite the heat, while Jawad and his failed and expelled girlfriend Like him, Zahira, they spend the holidays playing Colvasor to become world champions. They are driving around in the little girl's car, in the Colvazor interviews they lose because they do not understand mathematics and the appropriate location in space and time, because their play is random and does not give a result. They don't pay well, they are "Zakala and Zakala". They spend time chatting, but Zahira doesn't let him touch her or drive her car. Except this.
During the game, the beautiful character of Zahira appears, very confident and idiot, she wears high-heeled shoes that complicate her gait... She wants someone who loves her at the first sight and is loyal to her forever... She has not yet seen anyone like this... She also appears as a horse, impulsive, satisfied with his look, a look that he cares a lot about in front of him. Mirrors of the Colvasor Hall, he turns out to be superficial, sticks to his views, considers himself better than his twin sister, who has never failed in her life, and will even become a lawyer while he has not yet obtained his bac. He is proud of his uncle's wealth in the Colvazore, and insults him at home and interrupts him. His mother replies to him that the proverb says, “Two-thirds of the boy is his maternal uncle,” and adds that Jawad does not have even a tenth of his maternal uncle.
Jawad's strength and charisma lies in the fact that he is resolute and serious even when he commits foolishness in all seriousness, because that is what he is. He smokes and uses a very long blazing lighter. He only drinks the Canet Red Bull... He behaves proudly, when he does not play and waits for his opponent to play using the stick like a cannon. An equestrian, while Zahira uses a stick as a horse from a cane, places it between her thighs…
Jawad participates in a betting tournament on Colvazore and is eliminated and accuses his opponent of cheating. Everyone watches Obama's sermon and decides to send more soldiers to Afghanistan on TV. At home, Asma tells Jawad that you are not playing well and explains to him that the payment is from the brain and not from the stick, but Jawad reprimands her because she does not understand. Like him, she locks herself all the time in her room. He boasts that he will become a hero, and she whispers to him, “You should brag when you return from the war, not when you go to it.”
The Colvasor, attached to a café, is where Jawad spends his time shooting white balls at the red and yellow balls.
The summer vacation ends, so Jawad searches for another program. He sees his sister preparing to train as a lawyer. He decides to enroll in a private high school in order to obtain the baccalaureate. To finance his project, he decides to rent the shops under the family house. The mother contacts the neighborhood butcher to look for a renter. Jawad finds his mother at the butcher and scolds her with the butcher. So the butcher understands his nature and turns against his position and takes a horse as much as he can and regrets it because he “must leave,” i.e. he calls him “saba’ of the waterwheel.” Jawad is happy with his description as a lion and reconciles with the butcher. The butcher guides them to the broker to solve the problem.
The large shops are rented, but the rent stumbles, so Jawad decides to mortgage it, and the mortgage is the fashion of the stage, where many seek it without seeing its risks, but Asmaa calls for a fair division of the estate so that everyone can act as he wants with his share. . He agrees to divide out of stubbornness, not out of awareness of risks. This stubbornness and impulsive reaction is his nature that dictates his actions to prove himself.
Jawad Al-Batal, the only male brother of four daughters (the single Asma and the married women: Fatima, Maryam and Laila), received a pampered upbringing as a single male, and when his father died, he was forced to rely on himself in the face of heirs, which he was not accustomed to. Two struggles live: an internal struggle to define himself in the new situation, and an external struggle with the environment to impose his existence and then to save his future. He has a struggle with an inner demon and an outer one.
For him, every evil is a fatal proof that females are better than him, which in our societies the males do not perceive.
Shown here is the sudden and early transition from youth to manhood under the pressure of circumstances, the tale of an ambitious hero with a grave sin: vanity, his only tool is his belief that he is handsome and strong, a horse satisfied with his appearance, discontented with his achievements, behaving arrogantly even in a position of weakness, unable to discover his mistake.
The film follows his journey
In crises, Jawad remembers his original schedule, scolds himself until he is on the verge of tears... He is a slave to the situation in which he is, does not plan and does not see in the long term... He decides to correct his maneuvers, and the more he tries to maneuver and waste time, his situation worsens even more, he does not decide his fate, Rather, his fate is subjected to successive trials, descending into the abyss... He makes mixtures of false hope that end in deepening severe despair.
All the tests that Jawad goes through are governed by the logic of the dream of excelling over his sisters, whether educated or illiterate others. He treats them with implied violence. No words, no punches, but a very arrogant manner.
The inheritance is divided upon the turnover in the presence of Jawad's uncle, the three floors are distributed, and Jawad gets the large shops. And the movement of the camera should show the house clearly because it is a major element of the struggle, a large and spacious house so tempting to venture into it.
Jawad mortgages his share for 20 million centimes for two years. While signing the mortgage document, Jawad tells the mortgagor in the public office, “I smell wolf skin in you,” and the mother responds to her son that she smells hyena skin in it. He hears, but does not understand the peculiarities of the line he is walking in, so he heads to the wall to run into it.
The present places the document in a prominent red file, which appears in a large shot with a horse looking at it.
Uncle takes Jawad to a bank, Jawad puts the money in the bank and obtains a bank card that opens the way to heaven for him. Then he sets off to live a strong circumstantial luxury stage, pampers Zahira, buys new clothes, spends generously and confidently, grows his hair and cuts it so that he gives his face a silhouette, confident and impulsive lion collides with what Around him... He is depicted walking, the surging image represents his swollen self-awareness, he wears a huge, heavy yellow Caterpillar that gives his walking a monotonous sound like the hand of the earth. His self-confidence increases, the disposal of his share in the estate was material evidence of his manhood.
He joins Al-Badeel Private High School, a high school founded by Idris Al-Wahiwi, a former fighter who received compensation from the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, and he has an interactive philosophy of management. The director is a revolutionary who deeply sings Darwish, repeating “and I am the balance between those who survived and those who escaped.” He believes that the poetry revolution does not die. He criticizes the liberal who has disintegrated from all moral obligations, except for the selfish commitment to expanding the horizon of profit as far as possible. His educational institution is against this philosophy. He received equity and reconciliation compensation and invests in education…
His hobby is shooting arrows at a board with colored circles in front of him. A director has a secretary in her thirties looking for a husband, she comes dressed up every day as the film progresses, the director preys on her with his eyes without taking a step... He shoots on the board and does not pay the woman who dreams of him as her husband. It is another zakkal in its own way.
In high school, Jawad continues his behavior, his mother tells him, “Sugar of glory,” while his motto is “Sugar Boss is enough.” He plays and annoys the teachers while the money slips from his hand. He wants to be absent, but Zahira does not want to be absent because her father, the owner of a tourist agency with multiple branches in several cities Moroccan, open because he was influenced by the tourists he deals with, he gives her freedom provided that she does not miss and not be late after seven thirty in the evening, and if she does, he will take her small car from her.
As for Asmaa, she joined a law firm, training with an expert old lawyer. Asmaa is a diligent girl who disappears under the shadow of Jawad, who imposes loose clothes on her and watches her and fears him. In the office is Omar, a tall, broad and polite young lawyer who occasionally cooperates with Asma on some cases.
The two paths branch off: Asmaa ascends and a horse descends
Jawad is always up late, spends his time between high school and Colvazor, a café where Kant drinks, at home playing Colvazor on his mobile phone. His mother compared him to his father and concluded that “fire gives birth to ashes,” describing the youth of a generation who creates a problem to prove that it is capable of facing it, and thus wastes its energy in fabricated battles.
In the Colvazor play session, news of an instantaneous event appears that determines for the spectator the temporal and historical reference to the events, that is, now, the TV will be the chrono of the movie, so that the viewer knows how the school time passes, Jawad bet that one team will qualify, while Zahra bet on another. Jawad lost the bet and Zahira ordered him to buy a huge scooter.
Out of stubbornness with Zahira, who calls her father “the Patrons,” Jawad buys a huge yellow scooter and is forced repeatedly to ask for money in exchange for checks for the bettor… In the school, the principal isolates Jawad in the “third chance” group to deal pedagogically in a different way with a group of students who are complaining about teachers , the principal celebrates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on the tenth of December at high school... He explains that freedom is a right, and the right is a responsibility. Freedom is not a path to chaos.
Idris, the educated director, follows modern pedagogy as John Biagi defined it, listens to the students of his institution, finds that in his institution 10 zakat collect them in a special class called in the Ministry of Education’s dictionary the “vigilance committee”.
Idris and the ten percent try to reconcile them with the educational institution, but he is firm and ready to sacrifice them to save the rest. He shows that his high school is for education, not a shop. Well-off families send him their sons, who have failed in all the stations. He decides that his high school is an opportunity, not a disappointment, and he has opened a high school (not kindergarten, nursery and primary school) because adolescents are neglected, especially males...
The director wants social change, not profit. In the film, we follow the work of the vigilance committee: the director trains the ten zakat to pay, basketball to pay, how many times does the American player pay and get injured?
This is a mathematical psychological lesson and an objective equivalent to modifying the mindset, as shooting is done from the head, not from the hand. Jawad does not shoot well, instead of focusing on expanding the circle of the basket to be able to score three points at once, to hit the goal. Crazy request. The manager replies that America determines the size of the hole, and tells Jawad that with this way of thinking, you will never see better days.
On the holiday of the Green March, a number of zakat go to the Colvazor with a horse playing and talking through each person’s search for a challenge to the other. The zakat attendants, however, decide on a zealous sermon, they head to the house of the Patrons for a lavish sermon, the father who takes the three agrees according to their minds, provided that his daughter agrees.
Zahira takes a horse and tells him her opinion of him, petting gestures and harsh words: he is just a handsome but incompetent Zakal, and explains to him that he does not have a sense of responsibility and it is difficult for a woman to depend on him, but she assures him that he is entertaining and handsome and she loves to talk with handsome young men.
But Jawad does not understand how she refuses to marry the lion, and since then the interaction between the two continues, but it is peppered with coldness and mutual irony that explains their two personalities together. Here she appears a dazzling figure, admiring handsome men, and complaining that they are not strong to subdue her, a model who attracts from afar, but without depth, like a horse, a dazzling appearance, with a head and loose hair.
After a shocking shock, Jawad admires the beauty of Nadia, the daughter of a shopkeeper, and cajoles Asma to intercede for him with Nadia, but he can't understand with her because she calls things by their names and has a predetermined agenda and does not deviate from it. He returns to his suit, Zahira, who rides behind him on the bike and hair curls in the air on the beach road.
In a race between Jawad by bicycle and Zahira by car, Jawad falls down, is slightly injured while the bike is completely broken... Jawad lies in the hospital and watches the news on TV to determine the lost school time... After leaving the hospital, Jawad returns to borrow again and to spend on his elegance and Zahira... The first points of assignment appear in In high school, Jawad finds that his program for success is shaking... But stubbornness is stronger than his program. He plays the Colvasor and bets with his money and does not pay well... Celebrates New Year's Eve, watches America send more soldiers to Afghanistan...
Idris, the director of the secondary school, watches the royal speech on regionalism and calls his companion during the struggle and discusses the issue with her.
In high school, hope dissipates, at home, tension increases between Jawad and his mother and sister, Zahira is only having fun with him, his share of his father’s legacy is dissipated, and those around him criticize him. A focal point, without a memory, “it takes form every day, it doesn’t pay off.” So, viruses abound in his brain, so he doesn’t pay well…
Un type qui n'a pas de mémoire qui se formate chaque matin et qui ne fait pas de mise à jour
The money has melted and the inheritance will be lost, so Jawad decides to take the initiative, asks Asmaa to invite Nadia, she attends, Jawad asks her ambivalently about her father and his documents, he takes important information from her... In the middle is the main scene in the movie:
Just before the Maghrib call to prayer, as usual, the fasting mother puts the breakfast tray in front of her. A horse enters agitated and has despaired of saving himself. They argue about who made a mistake. The mother begins the reckoning. Moroccan mother tips:
Beware to get up and fall, beware to look out the window and fall, advice that creates a fearful skeptical mindset in the ocean, a frustrated mentality in the first ten years of his life, the age of understanding and learning, his mother and father were in a constant disagreement for trivial reasons, they warn him, beat him to empty the anger of their differences, so He went to school stupid, his stupidity was rooted in him, so all his teachers did not help him... His mother rejected his accusations and compared him with his sister and described him as Zakal, so he got angry, he became a mass of feelings without a mind and he is a lion of the waterwheel, and he kicked the breakfast tray, so the giraffe hit the wall and the sound of the call to prayer of Morocco rose.
Brittage, the collision and dispersal of the giraffe, and then the ears, remained stuck in the mind of a horse forever.
Then Jawad goes out into the abyss, he goes to steal the mortgage document to get his property back, he calls Nadia, the daughter of the current, to make sure that no one is at home, he steals the document and is arrested while his mother is in the hospital with a stroke because she did not understand how her son does all this before the sunset prayer.
In prison, Jawad empties himself for the first time to identify his mistakes, he cries out of shock, then wonders why his tears are salty?
Jawad examines his relationship himself for the first time, with the ringing of the zulfa and the image of his opponent who became the hero of Kofazor on television, Jawad admits to himself that he lost without having an opponent. Because his opponent is his temper, rather he is his enemy, the enemy of himself. He identifies his mistakes and does not address them.
In prison he is in the woods and behaves carelessly, they call him Mama's boy, he always wakes up after breakfast and gets hungry...
Jawad states during the investigations that he took the mortgage document, not to steal, but rather plans to sell his share to pay the mortgage money.
Deal
Asmaa and the lawyer Omar enter the line to negotiate in search of a solution at an exorbitant price. Asmaa declares that this is her chance to liquidate the house that unites her with her brother, to be freed from it forever. During the first half of the film, Asmaa looks at Jawad from "Tah Al Shaqf" in fear, and her mother advises her not to make him crazy. After his imprisonment, he was in a vulnerable position, so Asmaa decided: This is a calamity with which I will make my salvation. She explains: If I remain weak, a horse will drag me by the nose, let him be alone, live with the results, I will cut all my relations with him, he has no mercy on the womb in which he was conceived. Why would he have mercy on me?
A deal was made, according to which the present bought all the house from the heirs. He waived the lawsuit against Jawad, who is being tried for a month in prison after the January 11 holiday that Idris celebrates in his high school. He is interested in history and does not see the freshness of his secretary.
The house was sold for 160 million under pressure, with a price of 200 million, ten taxes were submitted, and the rest is divided by three. He will receive it when he gets out of prison.
Asmaa's goal was to sever all ties with a horse to break free from the past that he represents. He is surprised that the closed cat he was insulting holds him so much hostility and plans to never see him...
There is a bad behavior award and a good behavior award
While Jawad is imprisoned, Asmaa marries the giant lawyer, here Asmaa turns into a charming girl, she appears elegant in black shorts and an open shirt, astonishes, and announces that Jawad for her is dead, she no longer has a brother, he killed her mother when he kicked her breakfast.
At this point in the film, Jawad's role declines, and the role of his sister Asmaa, the successful diligent, increases, as the world ends in the hands of the hardworking, while the prosecutors lose their positions that they gained by screaming and muscle strength. Victory is for intelligence and diligence, payment comes from the brain and not from the stick… We see the lawyer and Asmaa dining together in an elegant restaurant and the TV is talking about a momentary event, and the US army supports Haiti. The lawyer mentions that Hugo Chavez accused Obama of occupying Haiti, so Asmaa answers, “Why doesn’t Chavez Al-Zakal send aid instead of sending aid? talk".
The other zakala, Zahira, a groom came to her, so she took him to consult a friend of hers. The friend said that the groom has several white hairs in his hair, so he is not suitable for marriage. Then the friend winked at him, days later Zahira knew that her friend had married the man.
When Zahira watches her friend with her husband wearing a ring, a magnified view of the ring on the friend's hand.
