The new name of the stadium, previously known as the Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, reflects the number of shipping containers used in its construction, and 974 is the international communication code for Qatar, and the stadium hosts the first matches at home during the Arab Cup Qatar Cup 2021, whose competitions start at the end of this month.

The Secretary -General of the Higher Committee for Projects and Heritage, Hassan Al -Thawadi, expressed his pride in announcing the completion of the 974 stadium, in another achievement on the road to Qatar 2022.
