Luna Display turns your Mac into an extra Windows screen
The latest update to Luna Display Terminal adds a new feature that allows you to connect a Windows computer to a macOS laptop or desktop computer (including Apple's M1 iMac) for use as a secondary display.
Terminal maker AstroPad has released a new update to make using Macs and iPads as second screens even smoother than before.
The new update also allows 4K and 5K resolution options (assuming you have a monitor that supports them). Terminal now features Magic Keyboard and Trackpad support for the iPad. It also brings Teleprompter Mode and Office Mode for Windows devices.
While the Luna Display terminal has provided the ability to connect between a Mac and another Mac for a while, until now users have been able to connect a Windows PC to an iPad using the company's dongle and software setup only.
The new connection works from a Windows PC to a macOS device wirelessly and via an Ethernet connection, just like the Mac to Mac option.
Additionally, the Luna Display update adds support for 5K and 4K displays at full resolution, although there are still some limitations.
A Windows PC can only run 5K resolution at a 30Hz refresh rate. While a macOS device can run 5K resolution with a 45Hz refresh rate. Resolutions above 4K require macOS Big Sur or later.

On the other hand, 4K resolution runs at 60Hz refresh rate across both platforms. However, along with support for a PC running the new Windows operating system. The updated Luna Display makes it an ideal solution for using the M1 iMac as a secondary display.
The new update comes on the heels of Terminal adding support for setting up a connection between a Windows PC and an iPad earlier this year.
The Luna Display itself costs $129. This is for the version of the computer running the Windows operating system or for the version of the computer running the macOS operating system. With USB-C, HDMI or Mini DisplayPort dongle options available depending on the platform you choose.
