Dr. Khaled Al -Dhahabi, head of the National Center for Housing and Building Research, revealed the details of the launch of the green construction exhibition under the auspices of the center, through which it aims to adopt an important awareness message to companies, institutions and citizens about the development of building methods in the world, to become more compatible with the environment other than its role in improvingLife quality for building users, and the exhibition also aims to stimulate the national industry by opening new areas for environmentally friendly products.

"Al -Mal" held an expanded dialogue with Dr. Khaled Al -Dhahabi, head of the National Center for Housing and Building Research, to clarify the points related to the permanent exhibition of green construction, other than reviewing the center's efforts in developing urban development in Egypt.

First of all, the head of the National Center for Housing and Building Research said that the goal of creating a permanent green building exhibition is to provide an opportunity for industrial companies to spread awareness about their products that suit green buildings such as the products of rationalizing water consumption and energy, controlling the operation of the building, heat insulation and controlling the internal climate of the building and materialsThe environmentally friendly, so that the owner of the building, the designer and the executing contractor can choose the products that help to achieve the requirements of green construction in public and private facilities.

He continued that the exhibition will be opened in conjunction with the third international conference of the center with sustainable construction and project management under the slogan of the integrated management of smart cities from 20 to 22 June next at the National Center for Housing and Building Research, explaining that the exhibition is located on an area of 1500 square meters and includes forty wings for the display inOne time, which is permanent, and more than one model can be rotated on the spaces, so that the number of exhibitors per year reaches two hundred companies and institutions.

He explained that the exhibition is being prepared, as 20 institutions and company were activated in coordination with the main partner, the National Communications Regulatory Authority and many real estate development companies and the production of environmentally friendly building materials, major contracting companies and 3D software companies, communications and information technology companies, welcome to government and private sector entitiesWhich provides products or services that achieve green construction requirements, buildings and smart cities.

A plan to stimulate the national industry in the areas of environmentally friendly products

On the mechanism of developing community services that the center aims to achieve, Al -Dhahabi said that the National Center for Housing and Building Research aims to provide solutions to the challenges facing Egypt's development plan 2030 through 3 axes: applied scientific research, developing engineering codes, and providing technical consultations.

Al -Dhahabi pointed out that these activities are planned through research institutes and specialized committees, adding: We seek in the coming period a comprehensive update of engineering codes in a way that contributes to achieving sustainability and increasing the center's contribution to national projects in order to achieve the desired benefit from the application of scientific research outputs and modern laboratories.

On the steps of the state in the file of sustainable development, Al -Dhahabi said that all ministries and state agencies seek to achieve the sustainable development strategy Egypt 2030, and the Ministry of Housing has made important steps in this trend through national projects such as social housing and the expansion of the desert to create new cities and provide water and sanitation servicesFor all cities and villages of the Republic, in addition to decent life projects to raise the level of quality of life for all Egyptians and road projects and facilities that contribute to achieving sustainable development and attracting domestic and foreign investment.

On the sustainability plan for the development of the most needy governorates and the development of construction in it and the mechanism of its development, he said that a decent life project represents an effective mechanism to achieve the minimum quality of life in the most needy villages and governorates, which is an integrated project that includes construction, services and facilities that long awaiting the Egyptian countryside villages, in a way that achieves lifeThe cream for the largest sector of the governorates and achieves a balance between the development of major and new cities and between cities and villages that have suffered from poor investment in services for a long time.

Regarding the map of codes during the year 2021, he said that the current era has become dependent on communications and information technology in the transmission of data through new technologies and technological innovations in all aspects of life, and from this standpoint during the year of the development of the Egyptian code, the foundations, requirements, planning, management, operation and sustainability of smart cities - were established during the year of the Egyptian code.The first part of the targeted new cities to be smart, indicating that work is underway in the second part to convert traditional cities into smart cities, as the center aims to start developing green construction codes to include all types of buildings and integrate with systems.

He pointed out that the state seeks to achieve sustainability through several systems, including the "Edge" system approved by the World Bank, as well as aiming to create an evaluation system for gatherings, courses and cities to achieve the foundations and principles of sustainability, saying: The center has prepared the Egyptian code for the foundations of design and requirements for implementing fiber networksThe optical of the digital transformation in the buildings, where the fiber began to occupy the place of copper wires, especially in cases that need high speeds, by contracting communications networks.

He added that specialized codes related to air conditioning and refrigeration are underway, discussing the appearance of the shift in the cooling and air conditioning system and the use of cooling media that causes the ozone layer to exhaust and have a low impact on global warming, and therefore the codes have laid the foundations and requirements that characterize, install, operate and maintain the cooling and air conditioning system given the quality and characteristicsRefreshing media alternatives that are adopted globally.

He stressed that a ministerial decision is being issued to work in the Egyptian code to operate and maintain public and heritage buildings, which requires the implementation of the organization of operating and maintenance work for buildings. This code aims to lay the foundations of design, public and heritage, which leads to achieving the concepts of sustainable development to preserve the investment value of those real estate assets.

It also includes the Egyptian code, which is being completed to implement tunnels and underground installations. This code aims to determine the main characteristics and provide some guidelines for designing and building tunnels and facilities.

He explained that a code is being prepared for the anchors and river ports, the first part of the code to determine the requirements for planning, design and implementation of river beads in Egypt, and the requirements for the implementation of rain systems, indicating that the code is being drafted in its final form, as it also guarantees instructions on planning, design, operation and maintenance of workRain water drainage within the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The development of 16 artistic descriptions that allow the use of recycled materials from waste in the manufacture of building materials and the creation of roads

He added that work is underway to develop solid waste management codes in line with the issuance of the new law of waste management that benefits from modern technologies in the integrated management of household waste, waste and demolition, noting that during the year 2021 the center contributed to the development of 16 technical standards to allow the use of recycled materials from wasteBuilding and demolition in the manufacture of green building products and in the construction of roads.

He explained that during the year 2021 the Egyptian code was developed in terms of foundations, requirements, planning, management, operation and sustainability of smart cities, as the first stage of it targets smart cities, adding that work is underway in the second part of traditional cities into smart cities.

The center also aims to start developing green building codes to include all types of buildings and integrates with international systems to achieve sustainability such as the Edge system approved by the World Bank, and work is underway to develop solid waste management codes in line with the issuance of the new law of waste management that benefits from modern technologies in managementIntegrated for household waste, construction and demolition waste.
