After the departure of the last American soldier .. the disclosure of a secret agreement with the Pentagon and the Taliban about announcing the new government

The Pentagon spokesman, John Kirby, said that the war in Afghanistan is over, while consultations continue at the local and international levels regarding the operation of Kabul Airport, after the Taliban entered the airport after the departure of the last American soldier on Monday evening.

Kirby confirmed - in statements to "CNN" - that there are no US forces in Afghanistan now, and also stated that all the military equipment that his country's forces left at Kabul Airport are unusable, including aircraft.

Kirby added that the security threat level in Afghanistan is still high, and they are concerned about the fate of the Americans who were not able to evacuate them from Afghanistan.

Just before midnight on Monday, the last US military plane left Kabul airport, carrying the last soldiers who took over the protection of the last stage of the evacuation process.

The Pentagon has released a photo of the last US military to leave Afghanistan, Major General Chris Donahue, commander of the 82nd Airborne Division in the US Army.

And inside the airport campus, dozens of planes and helicopters that Washington gave to the Afghan army remained empty after being damaged by American forces before they withdrew.

And the commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, said - in a press conference - that his forces had disarmed about 73 aircraft, that is, they damaged and made them inoperable again. He stressed that "these planes will not fly again," adding, "No one will be able to use them," as the windows of the cockpits of the planes were smashed and tires punctured.

The United States also destroyed a C-RAM missile defense system installed to protect Kabul Airport, a system that intercepted on Monday 5 missile attacks launched by the Islamic State on the airport.

"Dismantling these systems is a complex and time-consuming procedure, so we have disarmed them so they can never be used again," General McKenzie explained.

The Pentagon said that the military equipment provided to Afghan forces that the Taliban now possess contains lethal parts but does not pose a threat, and added that the Taliban cannot strategically use the military equipment they have seized.

With the departure of the last plane, the Taliban, deployed in the vicinity of the airport, fired firecrackers and bullets to celebrate the end of the foreign presence in Afghanistan.

This morning, Tuesday, Taliban fighters toured Kabul Airport, accompanied by members of the movement's special forces, called the "Badri 313 Brigade". In black.

CNN quoted what informed sources said that the Taliban was helping to transport Americans to Kabul airport several times each day.

The sources revealed that the US army negotiated a secret agreement with the Taliban to escort elements of the movement to the Americans in order to reach Kabul airport, stressing that the agreement was very successful and contributed to the evacuation of hundreds of Americans.

political consultations

Politically, a Taliban source told Al Jazeera that the consultations on forming the new government in Afghanistan had ended and that the results would be announced soon.

For his part, a member of the political bureau of the Taliban, Shahabuddin Dawar, said that the movement wants to build positive relations with neighboring countries, and does not seek to use Afghan lands against them, as he put it.

In a ceremony organized by the Taliban in the capital, Kabul, on the occasion of the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, Dollor described the withdrawal of US forces as a good step, noting that the movement wanted to build diplomatic relations with all countries. While noting that the world needs to deal with Afghanistan, Dolor called on the international community not to interfere in the country's internal affairs.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Afghanistan quoted Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid as saying that a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Taliban leader Sheikh Hebatullah Akhundzada in Kandahar province.

During the 3-day meeting, the current political, security and social issues in the country were discussed, and the leader of the movement discussed the formation of a new Islamic government and the state's cabinet.

This is the first meeting chaired by the Taliban leader and other officials after the movement took control of the capital, Kabul.

International interest in operating the airport

Internationally, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said - in a press conference with his German counterpart in Doha - that Afghanistan is going through a critical stage and the Taliban must show cooperation in combating terrorism, stressing the importance of communicating with the Taliban as is the position of many countries in this regard.

The Qatari minister stressed the importance of preserving the basic rights of all segments of the Afghan people, and unifying international efforts to protect civilians in Afghanistan, noting that talks on Kabul Airport are still ongoing at the level of security and operation.

For his part, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the State of Qatar played an important and pioneering role in the evacuations despite the danger, noting that the challenges did not end despite the completion of the evacuations.

Maas added that we need close cooperation with Afghanistan's neighboring countries and other countries in the region, stressing the importance of holding talks with the Taliban and finding solutions to operate Kabul Airport.

On the other hand, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today, Tuesday, that it was too early to make a decision on whether and how the government would work with the Taliban regarding the fight against the Islamic State in Afghanistan.

The spokesman added that this depends in part on the Taliban fulfilling their commitments on a number of issues, including respect for human rights.

In the same context, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that her country is in contact with France, the Netherlands, Britain and Italy to hold talks with the Taliban.

In a press conference with Austrian Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz, Merkel stressed that talking with the Taliban does not mean recognizing the movement.

While Merkel indicated that her country is discussing with other European countries the issue of presence in Kabul, she stressed that Germany is continuing its efforts to evacuate Afghan employees who cooperated with it out of Afghanistan.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also stressed that Moscow supports security and peace in Afghanistan and that "terrorists" should not use its territory, he said.
